From the beginning, it’s been our belief that Walla Walla Valley presents one of the world’s best
expressions of Merlot through the perfect combination of soils and climate; the varietal is at its
most expressive when grown in the mellow, moderate conditions our appellation offers. Merlot
possesses a plush, hedonistic character that has richness and complexity and ages gracefully.
Crafted in an old world style that demonstrates restrained oak and balanced acidity, our Merlots
are elegant, complex and true to their varietal characteristics.
Drawing on thirty years of experience working with established, dedicated winegrowers, we’ve
sourced this bottling from a selection of the sweet spots of Merlot terroir, vineyards with deep siltloam soils at mid-elevations within Walla Walla Valley. This wine presents all the classic attributes
we look for in Washington Merlot: lush and ripe fruit, a balanced and succulent palate, and a
friendly accessibility. We also blend in a small amount of Cabernet Franc to accentuate the floral
notes and bring an intriguing undertone of tobacco and brown leaf.
